Blog discription

What will you find here? Ramblings from an aging gamer-miniature painter. When I first started out in this hobby computers were in their infancy and finding other gamers could only be done by going to conventions or as in my case bumping into somebody who happened to see me reading "Panzer Leader" on the school bus. Look how far we have come! The internet has allowed our small community to be able to connect on a level I never dreamed of when I was but a small lad. What I do hope you will find here is something interesting from one wargamer/miniature painter to another. I paint miniatures somewhat decently, so I will be posting some pictures of my work, and perhaps a review or two of games and/or miniatures. Most of all this is just about having fun and anything I post here is meant to be for that reason.

Bolt Action: 1940 France Sd.Kfz 222

Added another vehicle to my France 40 Bolt Action collection. While I've been painting Germans for the very short France 40 campaign I've kept my eye on adding to my collection stuff that I can use for the initial invasion of the Soviet Union. The 222 is one of my favorite German vehicles and was used throughout the war.

Saga: Age of Crusade: Ordensstaat (Teutonic order)

This week I worked on 18 Levy for my Saga Ordensstaat warband. These are really detailed V & V figures. Man I've got to say that these were not easy to paint because of all the detail, which is great, but I suffered trying to paint everything,

Table top standard is what I went for. I painted the shields as they were too large for shield transfers. I had a really hard time trying to figure out colors for the shields as these would be Prussian's, Polish, Lithuanian soldiers and not really wealthy. I also discovered that even though little big man transfers have some really ornate designs that this wasn't true in the real world. Oh yes there would be some fancy painted shields, but mostly they were solid colors.

I have another 12 mounted to do, and 6 more foot. But I can play with what I have right now. I just need these extra figures to give the army more flexible options when building.

Blacksite Studios: Lunar

Been a few months since I've painted any models for the game Lunar. These are some new releases from Blacksite Studios. JAXA astronauts. I had no idea that Japan even had a space program, but hey they do!

JAXA stands for Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. They have a mission to build a lunar base in late 20's, but I think, if it happens at all, it will be more like late 30's. I do hope it happens in my life time. I think that would be awesome!

The paint scheme I chose was from the card art. I like it because it reminds me of the Japanese WW2 naval uniforms. Here are my five astronauts I've done for JAXA faction so far....

Aristeia! The Game more figures

Just a quick post of some more figures I've painted for the game Aristeia!. These guys are for me and not a friend. Man I really like this game!

First up is Moonchild. “The Antipod are a brutal alien race native to Dawn, the Ariadnan nation’s planet. Apparently. the Antipod’s alien saliva contains some kind of retrovirus loaded with genetic information able to affect fetuses in the mother’s womb, causing them to change into the likeness of the aggressor. This “boogey-virus” is some kind of natural selection mechanism that helps the genetic strain of the stronger and more aggressive tribes or ethnicities to spread. The result of the infection of a human fetus is a creature that looks like a bulky human with Antipod features, pejoratively dubbed Dogface.

Next is Dart. Paola Duarte was born into a rich industrial family on Acontecimento. The Duarte family are the founders and sole owners of Aura Biochemicals, a conglomerate specialized in the use of natural resources to create biochemical compounds with multiple applications in the Human Sphere. As a future heiress, Paola was educated since childhood in a diverse array of subjects that would be a valuable tool in the management of her future birthright: biochemistry, business management, finance, law and many others. However, the young Duarte preferred to organize parties and enjoyed practicing all kinds of risk-taking sports to their fullest, which became her passion. Whenever she could, she would escape to a new adventure full of risk and danger.

And finally we come to Eclypse. The Shadow weaver, by the picture I need to say no more.

Aristeia! The Game

It's been since May of this year that I have done anything substantial with Aristeia!. My buddy and I played a couple of Saturday's ago and rediscovered how much fun it was. We hadn't played this game face to face since the Great Plague. Of course I went total overboard gagga over it and have been painting figures for my pal who can't paint, and of course some for me.

If you'd like to learn more about the game you can just click on this orange link Aristeia!

Here are some of my buddies figures I painted for him.

Maximus also known as Max

The Nomad Witch

Parvati

...and finally Major Lunah

Saga: Age of Crusade: Ordensstaat (Teutonic order)

Well I started this project back in October of 2022. Man does time fly. I worked on the Grand Master and his brothers (click on orange links to look at previous posts), then in March of 2023 I completed some Warrior armed with crossbow. I had then started working on some horses, but I never got anything but a base coat on them and they have sat on painting sticks since March.

Well this week I finally got off my butt and finished those horse's along with their riders and I am pretty happy with how they came out. Trying to remember my paint used was a pain because I never wrote it down like I usually do, but eh. Now I have 24 Levy Infantry to paint and I will have a complete army, though I do want to paint a few more mounted so that I can have some options.

SF3D/Maschinen Krieger: PKA (Panzer Kampf Anzug) H1 Heinrich

Finished 18 more suits to go with my Nutcracker. Next week I am switching it back to Bolt action, but these were a nice break from painting Soviets.

SF3D/Maschinen Krieger: P.K.H. 103 NUTCRACKER

I haven't worked on SF3D since April, and this (my third) bad boy has been sitting on my table watching glumly as I reached over it every day to grab other figures to paint.

Well yesterday I sat down and knocked it out. I now have 36 suits in the paint quay before I reach for my third Soviet Bolt Action squad. This working on something different each week is helping me from getting burn out.

Bolt Action: France 1940 German support teams continued

I've been flipping the script every week. One week I paint Bolt Action Soviets, the next Bolt Action Germans, or whatever fancies me at the moment. So before I go ahead and paint the 3rd Soviet squad I gave my Germans some love.

I painted up to more LMG teams, and an Infantry gun team.
