Slowly building up the forces I need for this Solo or cooperative game. Next figure up is my boy Hearcles. If you haven't read the book by Steven Fry "Heroes" your really missing out on a great story, escpecially his audio version.

The Horus Hersey: Betrayal at Calth (a miniature boardgame)
Well it's been a bit. Suffered a little burn out on painting and loss of interest in some projects. If you don't have the juice, it's just no fun to paint. But the last week or so I've slowly climbed back on the hobby horse. I'm trying to clear my back log on my painting table so I can make room to paint some commisions I've been asked to do.
So today here is a project I started almost ten years ago... yes for ten years these poor bastards have occupied closet space only. But no more!
I started with the Word Bearers Chapter and have painted up Kurtha Sedd a Chaplain devoted to the utter ruin of the Ultra Marines and their false Emperor. Along with that I painted a tactical squad of Word Bearers (leaving me one more squad to paint) and Sor Gharax "The Bull" a raging madman equipped with a contemptor Dreadnaught.
After I complete the Word bearers I'll have to paint up the Ultra Marines which would include a character, five Cataphractii Terminators, and one tactical squad.
I didn't go nuts making them all fancy, just wanted to be able to make them table ready and play the game.

Warriors of Athena
Warriors of Athena is the new Co-op, Solo play mythic adventure by Joseph A. McCullough. If you're familiar with Rangers of Shadowdeep then the only difference between these two is one is Fantasy based and the other of course Mythic based.
The figures I chose to be my Hero and campanions are a range of figures from Lucid Eye Publications "Ziggurat" range. These are pretty cool models, especially "The Fall of Bel" model and his variant (helmeted version).
I enjoyed painting these figures, and Hercules and a Minotaur are up on deck.
Saga: Eastern Princes War Wagon
Well my Eastern Princes were sold to a friend and he wanted a War Wagon for it. So I painted one up, and here it is.

Hellboy Resurrected!
Super long time fan of the Hellboy franchise, I bought Mantic Games Miniature Boardgame called Hellboy. Of course I went all in and collected everything. But like all things us professional miniature collectors of stuff do, they sat unpainted for the last five years. The only thing I painted were five main character figures.
That all changed this past weekend when a friend brought over his game Anno Domini 1666, another miniature boardgame of swash buckling fun. This got me to get out my Hellboy stash, and the next day actually pursaded my Wife to play. We loved it! So this past week I've been busily painting away at frog monsters. Who doesn't love a good frog monster I ask you!
Here are a few terrain pieces I've painted up along with a Giant Frog and The Tentacles of Sadu-Hem.

Saga: The Eastern Princes
Painted up this Army when Saga was still 1st Edition, ten years ago. Amazing! This army will be passed along to one of my friends and hopefully continue campaigning in what is a glorious game, SAGA.
To flush the army out I painted up 12 more models (archers) and had to remount the Warlord to a 40mm base. I had it as a vignette and the Warlord and an archer were on the base. Fortunately I used a plastic base way back then and was able to remove both without damage.
So here are a few snaps before it goes under new ownership.

American War of Independence Project: Loyalist Militia
Finished a 12 man strong Loyalist Militia unit for Sharpe's Practice. Not a lot of information is avalible for the kind of flags they carried. Loyalist militia units in the American Revolutionary War (AWI) did carry flags (or "colours"), often incorporating British symbols like the Union Jack, but they varied greatly from Patriot flags, sometimes simpler, sometimes featuring Loyalist emblems or unit designations, with examples like regimental colours for British regulars often distinct from militia banners.
So here I just went generic with the flags. Showing that this paticular militia unit was better orginized so would have one.
Cheers

Flint and Feather: Iroquois War party
Been working on this project on and off for about a year and a half now. Yesterday I became motivated to finish this group of 14 Iroquois warriors which now gives me enough to play both sides. I completed the Huron War party last year.
I do want to add some villiagers and forest animals. I think I might do that this week.

Algernon Pulls It Off! More Albatros goodness of Jasta 5
I finished three more machines for Jasta 5. This time they are Albatros D.V variant. The placement of the wing exhaust vent, and tail shape are the only difference that you would see in this scale.
The all green machine was flown by Rudolf Matthaei, the half white with red band flown by Heinrich Bussing, and finally the one with the Red heart on machine was flown by Werner Voss.
Coming out of my coma like illness I made mistakes in painting my D.III's in D.V colors and vice versa, but unless I said something no one would know but me.
The last picture shows all six machines I have done on the prowl.

Algernon Pulls It Off! Albatros D.III's of Jasta 5
Well it finally bloody well happened. My Wife and I for the first time caught Covid over Christmas. Wow, I would not wish this upon anyone. Probably more to do with our age, but man we both feel steam rolled and quickly tire out at the simplest of chores. After seven days I am just now feeling like sitting at the painting table. So today I did a few aircraft.
On the WWI air group I belong to the challange this month is to paint up in any scale Albatros D.III's or D.V's and can be as colorful or as simple as you want.
My chosen subject are D.III's from Jasta 5 in 1:285th scale. These are 3D prints by Paul at Sabotag3D.com. I picked out two machines I really liked in Wilhelm Lehmann's Edelweiss decorated machine, and Hans Von Hippel's famous Blitz decorated machine. The third one is one I just made up because, well, I did.
