Blog discription

What will you find here? Ramblings from an aging gamer-miniature painter. When I first started out in this hobby computers were in their infancy and finding other gamers could only be done by going to conventions or as in my case bumping into somebody who happened to see me reading "Panzer Leader" on the school bus. Look how far we have come! The internet has allowed our small community to be able to connect on a level I never dreamed of when I was but a small lad. What I do hope you will find here is something interesting from one wargamer/miniature painter to another. I paint miniatures somewhat decently, so I will be posting some pictures of my work, and perhaps a review or two of games and/or miniatures. Most of all this is just about having fun and anything I post here is meant to be for that reason.

Showcase: Infinity Dragon Lady, Imperial Service Judge

I successfully averted my disaster of dropping this figure and having it snap off at the ankle while being 95 percent completed. I was not a happy camper, but I was able to drill through her boot, and then drill into her calf and pin the two pieces together. So now that I have rescued the poor thing let's talk about her a little.

Imperial Service judges are high-ranking functionaries in service of the Emperor with an authority that inspires a great deal of reverence and dread. As such, they enjoy a social standing and influence comparable to that of mid- to high-ranking Party officials. This figure is aptly named by Corvus Belli as the Dragon Lady, Imperial Service Judge.

While painting my figures I always ask my Wife what she thinks, and I take her advice very seriously, more serious than she knows, but she's starting to figure out to make more gentle faces when she thinks what I am showing her is not so good. This time I had my ten year old grand daughter have a look and see what she thought. The first thing she said was, "why was the pig so angry?". I about fell out of my chair from laughter. We now call her pet pig, angry pig.

So here are my pictures of the now (finally) finished figure.

As always thanks for looking.

The day the earth stood still.........

The painting Gods have struck! Perhaps because I have not done the great brush pilgrimage lately, or not uttered small prayers of thanks for letting me have a steady hand when needed. Whatever the case I cried the other day. Just small sobbing so my Wife couldn't hear me from the other room. But cried none the less. After like 8 hours of working on my HVT and putting the finishing touches on it, I dropped the bloody thing. Of course the umbrella bent, but she broke at the ankle🤬

There was no way I was going to paint another from scratch, so out came my pinvise, and I successfully drilled through her boot. Unfortunately her leg didn't agree and started to crack so I drilled a pilot hole with a very small bit so I could use a larger one to follow up. On this I was successful.

Thank the gods I had the sense to spray Krystal clear on it as the rough handling doing the drilling only caused minor paint wear. I then got out the green stuff and patched around her ankle and side of leg as best I could. Going to apply paint to it later today and hope for the best in matching it.

The pictures are of the ugly stage, the almost finished stage and then death stage.

Sigh.....

Showcase: Infinity Imperial Agent Crane Rank

My paint a new army challenge, that my local Infinity group is running, is coming along. I have to have them done by November 23rd. That may seem like a lot of time, it is, but because of that I often think I have a lot of time and that I can wander off into other projects. It's been very hard to focus, because right now I want to paint Arena Rex figures, Knights Models Batman miniatures, Historical figures for Saga Crusades, other Infinity armies, and I think you get the picture. Sigh, the hardships of a miniature slash gamer hobbyist.

We are painting a 300 point limited insertion list that caps us out at 10 models not counting extras like remotes that are attached to certain figures etc.

My eighth completed model is an Imperial Agent Crane Rank, a Heavy Infantry trooper with a Spitfire (Mmm, kind of like the US Armies SAW (Squad automatic weapon) if that helps you out). Heavily armored, with a special targeting visor, and martial arts, makes him one bad dude to mess with.

So here he is in all his glory.

As always thanks for looking.

Showcase: Infinity Zhànyīng Imperial Agents

Finished up two more models for my paint a new army by November 23rd Infinity tournament gig. I'm now halfway over my goal.

My next two you see here are called Zhànyīng Imperial Agents. One is a hacker type, that is used as a sort of cyber warfare unit to mess up the enemy communications and drones and such. The other carries a combi breaker rifle (the one standing and aiming) and is also equipped with a sensor to help fish out those pesky camouflaged enemy units (think camo like from the Predator movies).

So without further ado I present my Zhànyīng Imperial Agents.

As always thanks for looking and see you next time.
