Lunar: Blacksite Studio's Commonwealth Astronauts

So Blacksite studios released some more astronauts for their game Lunar. These are Commonwealth Astro’s from different parts of the old empire. I saw this paint scheme from Facebook group and really liked it so I copied it. My friend Mark (I guess he’s my friend) will make fun of these in some way and can’t wait to hear what he thinks of these boyz (this is a test to see if he really reads the blog).

Blacksite Studios: Lunar

 Well I knocked out three more Astronauts for the Soviets, and three for NASA. This is for a game called Lunar by Blacksite Studios, and is based on the idea that the Russians beat the US to the Moon. If you watch Apple TV's "For all Man Kind" you'll get the gist. Oh and if you haven't watched it, why not? It's an awesome show.

I also had this Soviet Lunar Lander since April of 2023 and decided to put it together and paint it up. Had to really clean it up. There were parts broken, and I had to re-drill out holes for components to fit. But I've had it for almost two years now so I can't do much about it now, plus it's out of print and only available as an STL. Kevin don't do STL's. The shield on top that protects the cameras had a good size chunk broken off, and it was missing. Probably not broken off, just a misprint. I fixed that with some plastic strut. Not perfect, but it suits my gaming needs. I've painted the base coat metal and could leave it like that, but I will give it a heavy black wash, followed up with some highlighting of main color, and then on to picking out some other components and placing some color on those. It's majority metal color. So it shouldn't take me to long to complete. I ordered one of those eight inch across Christmas project wooden disc's to place it on as the model is rather fragile.

Blacksite Studios: Lunar

 Been a few months since I've painted any models for the game Lunar. These are some new releases from Blacksite Studios. JAXA astronauts. I had no idea that Japan even had a space program, but hey they do!

JAXA stands for Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. They have a mission to build a lunar base in late 20's, but I think, if it happens at all, it will be more like late 30's. I do hope it happens in my life time. I think that would be awesome!

The paint scheme I chose was from the card art. I like it because it reminds me of the Japanese WW2 naval uniforms. Here are my five astronauts I've done for JAXA faction so far....

Blacksite Studios: Lunar

 So back in May of 2022 I picked up the game Lunar from Blacksite studios. Basically it's alternate history, Soviet Union places a man on the moon first, and then shortly after NASA gets there. Then there is conflict, and away we go. 

Game is played on a 2 X 2 mat, has cards for Astronauts and equipment to fit them out. When I got it I thought a friend of mine would want to play it and basically was told no. So the game went into my closet of 'something that may happen one day", and has sat there ever since. 

Then enter my friend, will call him Mr. R, who goes to Adepticon this past March. Mr. R, like most of us, saw some shiny things and went ooh ahh. Unfortunately for him the game Lunar was sold out in a day and he couldn't get it. 

When he came back he couldn't wait to tell me all about it, and I was like things that make you go hmmm. So I told him about the Apple TV show "For all Mankind" and in a week he binged watched the first season. Now he's all ooh ahh again.

So I decided to paint up my astronaunts of the CCCP and NASA and knocked them out yesterday and today. I still have to place the 20 individual decals across the helmet of the Soviets (C.C.C.P.) but Mr. R wanted pictures right now.
