Battletech: Dawn Guard
It's been almost a year since I expressed interest in painting up a new Battletech unit for Alpha Strike called the Dawn Guard. A House Davion unit. The color combination really grabbed me.
So I have painted up a whole company this past week and I did them in a quick slap dash dirty look. Just wanted to get them on the table. They turned out better than I thought so I can't wait to get them on the table.
I had a little trouble taking the pictures as my light setup caused the yellow and white to reflect back and made it hard to focus. I muddled through and got them pretty decent.

BLKOUT UN Raid Force Alpha but this time for a friend
A buddy of mine who doesn't have the skills had me paint these up for him. I didn't mind since it was a small group of figures, plus the fact I told him he had to play this game with me;)
So I painted these up a bit different from the ones I painted for myself, but I think they still do the job.

BLKOUT: Manticor Borz Group
It's been about four or five months since I painted any BLKOUT models. So it was refreshing to come back and do something a little different from my last few projects. BLKOUT is an Ultra Modern, Science Fiction type of game.
These models have been painted for me, just me. That always feels satisfying to say that. Not for this person, not for that person, just me.
Here's a little extract about them.
"Manticor prides itself on physical strength, and their combat tactics mirror this. Implacable in their attack, layers of ballistic armor let the soldiers of the Manticor Borz Force shrug off hits that would incapacitate any other force. Practical and methodical, Manticor Borz may not be flashy, but they'll put you in the ground nonetheless."
You can see why I chose to paint these lads, they are my kind of boyz!!!

Star Wars: The Spectre Project
So the last few weeks have not been the greatest. Family events caused me to not feel the painting vibe and that's okay. Then May 4th came along and I decided to let the Force take me away from the real world events in my family and drift off into brush land. It's incredible how soothing painting can be.
So I've had these Star Wars Legion models, like forever, and decided to finally paint them up. Not using the rules Star Wars Legion, but instead Spectre. Will see how that works. I've quite a bit more to do but I'll get to them one day as I say I will... hopefully.
I present my first ever Storm Troopers, Some Rebel Pathfinders done in US Army ACU colors, and lastly Rebel Troopers in Jungle camo.

SF3D/Maschinen Krieger/Robot Battle V: Ammo Knights
Inspiration and information for my project was taken from Lincoln Wright book MK.44.
To quote from his book "The 3rd Company MK44 consists of elite pilots organized into "Playing Card" squadrons."
2nd Armored Regiment 3rd MK Company "Card Soldiers" are shown here. The AMMOKNIGHTS shown here are heavy armored fighting suits equipped with handgrip smart guns that automatically tracks the target. The suits were designed by human kind to fight an A.I. opponent.
I tried to replicate his paint scheme on page 60 for his AXEKNIGHT using his idea that these ground pounders were operating in a toxic environment. Like acid rain and such. Now this wasn't an easy project because of scale. Trying to replicate this work in 15mm was not easy for me, and I wasn't totally satisfied with my end results, It just felt messy. First I am not a Model painter, I am a miniature painter. My technique being more three layer approach, between the lines, with maybe a little dusty dry brushing.
When working in smaller scale you need to make things brighter to make them pop and catch the audiences eye. But I got to the point in the project, do I dare try adding a little bit more in and risk the destruction of how far I've come. Sometimes you got to know when to stop throwing good money after bad. My last mistake I made, and I could kick myself over it, was I used a number 1 decal. In the card deck their is no number 1... ooops. My military brain was thinking traditional numbering.
Anyways that's what I got. I hope you like the 15mm version of what Lincoln came up with for a paint scheme.

BLKOUT: Harlow 1st Reaction Force
The strong right arm of "The Authority", the Harlow 1st Reaction Force are the elite mercenaries of Harlow Kinetic Solutions. Equipped with jump jets, smart weapons, and combat inorganics (AI robots), the 1st Reaction Force hits hard, and they hit fast.
The above is the quick snippet for this formation for the Science Fiction game called BLKOUT. Skirmish level, which hits my sweet spot for sci-fi action game played on a 2 X 2 with lots of terrain and a couple teams on each side.
The following I have painted up for a friend who lacks the skill or interest in painting. So now I have an opponent vested at least into the figures to game with.

Blacksite Studios: Lunar
Well I knocked out three more Astronauts for the Soviets, and three for NASA. This is for a game called Lunar by Blacksite Studios, and is based on the idea that the Russians beat the US to the Moon. If you watch Apple TV's "For all Man Kind" you'll get the gist. Oh and if you haven't watched it, why not? It's an awesome show.
I also had this Soviet Lunar Lander since April of 2023 and decided to put it together and paint it up. Had to really clean it up. There were parts broken, and I had to re-drill out holes for components to fit. But I've had it for almost two years now so I can't do much about it now, plus it's out of print and only available as an STL. Kevin don't do STL's. The shield on top that protects the cameras had a good size chunk broken off, and it was missing. Probably not broken off, just a misprint. I fixed that with some plastic strut. Not perfect, but it suits my gaming needs. I've painted the base coat metal and could leave it like that, but I will give it a heavy black wash, followed up with some highlighting of main color, and then on to picking out some other components and placing some color on those. It's majority metal color. So it shouldn't take me to long to complete. I ordered one of those eight inch across Christmas project wooden disc's to place it on as the model is rather fragile.
Here are a few snaps.
Cheers
Kevin
