Blog discription

What will you find here? Ramblings from an aging gamer-miniature painter. When I first started out in this hobby computers were in their infancy and finding other gamers could only be done by going to conventions or as in my case bumping into somebody who happened to see me reading "Panzer Leader" on the school bus. Look how far we have come! The internet has allowed our small community to be able to connect on a level I never dreamed of when I was but a small lad. What I do hope you will find here is something interesting from one wargamer/miniature painter to another. I paint miniatures somewhat decently, so I will be posting some pictures of my work, and perhaps a review or two of games and/or miniatures. Most of all this is just about having fun and anything I post here is meant to be for that reason.

The day the earth stood still.........

The painting Gods have struck! Perhaps because I have not done the great brush pilgrimage lately, or not uttered small prayers of thanks for letting me have a steady hand when needed. Whatever the case I cried the other day. Just small sobbing so my Wife couldn't hear me from the other room. But cried none the less. After like 8 hours of working on my HVT and putting the finishing touches on it, I dropped the bloody thing. Of course the umbrella bent, but she broke at the ankle🤬

There was no way I was going to paint another from scratch, so out came my pinvise, and I successfully drilled through her boot. Unfortunately her leg didn't agree and started to crack so I drilled a pilot hole with a very small bit so I could use a larger one to follow up. On this I was successful.

Thank the gods I had the sense to spray Krystal clear on it as the rough handling doing the drilling only caused minor paint wear. I then got out the green stuff and patched around her ankle and side of leg as best I could. Going to apply paint to it later today and hope for the best in matching it.

The pictures are of the ugly stage, the almost finished stage and then death stage.

Sigh.....

I would have just chucked it and never spoken about it again (that is why none of my failures ever end up on my Blog)
