Blog discription

What will you find here? Ramblings from an aging gamer-miniature painter. When I first started out in this hobby computers were in their infancy and finding other gamers could only be done by going to conventions or as in my case bumping into somebody who happened to see me reading "Panzer Leader" on the school bus. Look how far we have come! The internet has allowed our small community to be able to connect on a level I never dreamed of when I was but a small lad. What I do hope you will find here is something interesting from one wargamer/miniature painter to another. I paint miniatures somewhat decently, so I will be posting some pictures of my work, and perhaps a review or two of games and/or miniatures. Most of all this is just about having fun and anything I post here is meant to be for that reason.

Infinity: Ariadna... Devil Dogs Team, 2nd Assault Btn. of the USAMC

Well my friends I've been working behind the scenes and meaning to post earlier than this, but this time of year is always hectic and I've had a few added hiccups this time around. But here I finally am and I am excited to show you some of my latest work.

This piece I am about to show you I have been painting up for a friend as a gift for Christmas. He has helped my family out in time of need, and though he expected no repayment I still felt I had to show him in a special way thank you from my heart. So I attempted this project and gave it my best paint job I could. Unfortunately I have only completed one piece, but working on the second piece is coming along nicely. I chose this piece for several reasons. The first reason is that my group has had a sudden interest in the miniature game system Infinity and I hoped the piece would draw him in. The second and more important reason is that he served in one of our Countries finest institutions the United States Marine Corp. I personally have never met a Marine or ex Marine that isn't super proud of serving or having served. With time honored tradition, honor, loyalty, and all that goes with it, I felt it the perfect selection. It is from the faction Ariadna, and the pack is called the Devil Dogs Team, 2nd Btn, of the USAMC. Now while not USMC, I still thought he would get a kick out of this. He has shown interest in the grunts for this faction, and I am sure he would feel right at home with these lads, charging them straight up a hill into the teeth of an enemy machine gun nest.

Here a few pics of what I have done and the piece I am still working on.

As always thanks for looking.

Cheers
Kevin

  2. Looks great! However did you print the USAMC on the shoulder so small and so clearly? Can't wait to see that wild looking thing you are working on completed! Sweet!

    1. Thank you Skip. The letters are tiny individual decals that I carefully applied and lined up as best I could. I use micro sol (a decal solution which is basically water and vinegar) to help set them. A clear coat makes them disappear and then I dulcoat them. I became quite good at this with my 1:300 scale aircraft.

  3. This dude is a beautifully painted figure. I would like to put decals on the Tohaa also but I don't think they make them.

    1. Thanks Dave, FYI the decals I used where from the US Navy 1:300 aircraft decals from I-94 enterprises.
