Blog discription

What will you find here? Ramblings from an aging gamer-miniature painter. When I first started out in this hobby computers were in their infancy and finding other gamers could only be done by going to conventions or as in my case bumping into somebody who happened to see me reading "Panzer Leader" on the school bus. Look how far we have come! The internet has allowed our small community to be able to connect on a level I never dreamed of when I was but a small lad. What I do hope you will find here is something interesting from one wargamer/miniature painter to another. I paint miniatures somewhat decently, so I will be posting some pictures of my work, and perhaps a review or two of games and/or miniatures. Most of all this is just about having fun and anything I post here is meant to be for that reason.

Rangers of Shadowdeep another addition to the company

Having a bit of Covid fall out with my schedule as I have responsibilities of watching my granddaughters for the summer due to childcare issues and my Daughters new hours for work. I am not complaining as I feel fortune it enough to finally be able to spend more time with them at a moment in their life's that is important for a grandparent not to miss. We are having a pretty good time of it so far, but at the end of the day I am mentally worn out and head straight for the TV chair and not the hobby one.

The last two days I've had off, after a bit of cycling, I meandered into my hobby room and finished up another one of my excellent Dark Sword Miniatures from their George R. R. Martin Masterworks range. These figures are absolutely brilliant. Trying my best to give them the paint job they deserve has been a challenge, but I was able to complete Ygritte over the weekend.

So here are a few photos of Ygritte and one of her with the entire group I have painted so far.

As always thanks for looking.

Cheers
Kevin

    1. Would you be thinking of Boudica? Historically she was described as having tawny hair or tan colored. But thank you Skip:)

  3. Awesome lady archer, Kevin! Love the red hair - even her eyebrows! Oh, and the purple on the cloak really pops.

    1. Thanks Dean, as a painter I envision how I want it to look and see that in my mind. It’s always a pleasant surprise to hear what catches the viewers eye.

  4. I second the compliment on the cloak. She jumps off of that black base. Other base colors may wash her out.

    1. Thank you Dave. The figure comes with its own base, but I wanted to place it on a round base not only for stability but to give it a mantle piece look so to speak. I painted it black and dry brushed that dark grey to make the figures base pop. I am happy to hear that it also helps visualize her better.
