Getting close, this is my third battalion done of four I am going for. After that I will paint four cavalry units. I think I may make my deadline.
So far no burnout and still having fun with this period. Some Star Wars Storm Troopers, and Tuetonic Knight foot soldiers almost caught my eye and diverted me, but I am staying strong!
This installment is the Danish Foot guards that had straw colored coats. Man, straw can be so many colors! I ended up going with Vallejo Desert Yellow, followed up by Yellow Ochre. I like how it came out.
Next up the Danish Funen battalion.
As always thanks for looking.
Cheers
Kevin
Looking good there! A pleasant change from the common gray, blue and red coats
ReplyDeleteThanks and oh yes I agree!

That is definitely the color of straw. Well done. Love the shading. The huge flags of the period really look Great too, they look painted. Tell us about the flags!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Skip, the flags are paper flags, I just cut them out, pre fold them, use an Elmers glue stick and then wrap them around a metal spear. Was it's fully dry I soak them in water for 30 seconds, then crinkle them up. Slightly touching them up a little as they dry for first few minutes and then I let them dry over night.

Great work on these - I have this unit myself but for slightly alter - WSS/GNW - I think my straw coats were pretty similar to be fair.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I think the straw color can be whatever you want with fading etc. So yours are after my period so have tricorns?
