What will you find here? Ramblings from an aging gamer-miniature painter. When I first started out in this hobby computers were in their infancy and finding other gamers could only be done by going to conventions or as in my case bumping into somebody who happened to see me reading "Panzer Leader" on the school bus. Look how far we have come! The internet has allowed our small community to be able to connect on a level I never dreamed of when I was but a small lad. What I do hope you will find here is something interesting from one wargamer/miniature painter to another. I paint miniatures somewhat decently, so I will be posting some pictures of my work, and perhaps a review or two of games and/or miniatures. Most of all this is just about having fun and anything I post here is meant to be for that reason.

Macedonian Elephant

I painted this for a friend as a commission for his Age of Alexander army for Saga. The model is from Wargames Foundry. It's an older figure line from them and is a metal model. I was not a huge fan of this model. It was metal parts that had to be glued together and it was clunky and had many gaps that I had to fill with green stuff. It was probably the top of the line for it's day but it hasn't aged well. I normally place my figures on thick paint sticks using blue stuff, but this model was to heavy for that so it was harder to paint.

But I trudged on and finally got it done. Here are the results.

As always thanks for looking.

Cheers
Kevin

  1. I'm familiar with that model, you are right , there are a LOT of casting flaws to deal with. You have done a wonderful job fixing it and your usual superlative job with the paintbrush.

  2. Great looking towered elie, Kevin. I had an older model elephant (can't recall the make), but gave it away after getting Aventine ones. The old one was sized like a baby compared to the Aventine ones.

  4. A fine looking Elefant! I could never make the guys in the box look natural, it was always too crowded. You have! Well done. The saddle blanket is nicely weathered as well.

Hey, I thought you'd still be crying? Good to see your life has carried on!

    1. Hahaha, I was waiting for that one Skippy. For awhile I am going to imitate an Ostrich😎

Thanks for the kudos, our boy really liked it and the cavalry he picked up from me today as well. We even had a game of Saga and he wasted me. But you know what? I lost but kept patting my pocket feeling that money, so I took it on the chin with good cheer😉
