Every time I paint one of these Freeblade mini's from the UrDaggar Tribe I can't help but always think of the Arnold Conan movies, or Red Sonja, etc. So this one is named Wolfkarl, and because I flashback to those old movies I added the name "The Destroyer", only fitting I think.
For some reason I didn't enjoy painting this sculpt like some of the others, but as I got toward the end I started to warm up to it. In fact while taking pictures I noticed I hadn't finished the arm bracelets or the sword pommel, I was like doh! So I whipped out the last bit and took pictures (again). Now I have to run outside and spray some dulcote on it. Don't want my friend who I am painting these for having him rub it off while touching it.
Of the ten I promised to paint for him, I now only have three left! Yeah! Then I can paint my stuff which I am chomping at the bit to do. Then I remember I promised 37 Space Hulk figures for another friend. Sigh... I'll get to my pile this summer yet.
As always thanks for stopping by and until next time when you'll see another brute swinging a sword in some distant fantasy land.
Cheers
Kevin

What will you find here? Ramblings from an aging gamer-miniature painter. When I first started out in this hobby computers were in their infancy and finding other gamers could only be done by going to conventions or as in my case bumping into somebody who happened to see me reading "Panzer Leader" on the school bus. Look how far we have come! The internet has allowed our small community to be able to connect on a level I never dreamed of when I was but a small lad. What I do hope you will find here is something interesting from one wargamer/miniature painter to another. I paint miniatures somewhat decently, so I will be posting some pictures of my work, and perhaps a review or two of games and/or miniatures. Most of all this is just about having fun and anything I post here is meant to be for that reason.

Another Viking!! (Well, to me anyway!) Really nice paint. The wolf pelt is a really nice addition to that sculpt. The sculptor should be proud of his work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Skip, I looked up pictures of Wolves and wanted to show the pelt the way it would look. A lot of painters would go one color.

Great job. I like the metal and jewel effects on the sword. That's a nice mix you have on the base. I would like something like that for my 10 mm figs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, finally someone notices the jewel effect. I was thinking the series "The Last Kingdom" where the hero has a jewel in his pommel.
